The session fee is $250 and covers your full photography experience, including a prep guide, a relaxed one-hour session, and your proof gallery. After your session, you choose a collection of digital images and print credit that fits your family. Most families invest around $1,500 total. I'm happy to walk you through the collections before you book so you know exactly what to expect.

HOW MUCH DOES A SUMMER FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION COST?
The session fee is $250 and covers your full photography experience. After your session you'll receive a proof gallery slideshow, then choose from collections starting at $750. Most families invest between $1,000 and $1,500 total.
WHEN SHOULD WE BOOK A SUMMER SESSION?
As early as you can. Summer is one of my busiest seasons in the Twin Cities, and prime weekends from June through August often fill 6 to 8 weeks out. If you have a specific date in mind, like a milestone, family visiting from out of town, or a last summer before kindergarten, reach out as soon as you know.
WHERE DO SUMMER FAMILY SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
Outdoors, almost always. Summer is when the Twin Cities looks its best, and there are so many good spots. Favorites include Lake Harriet, Longfellow Garden, Richardson Nature Center, and quiet neighborhood pockets. Your backyard or family lake cabin works beautifully too. If a place means something to your family, it almost always makes the strongest images.
WHAT TIME OF DAY IS BEST FOR SUMMER SESSIONS?
Whatever time your kids are at their best. Happy kids are the number one factor in great family photos. For most families that's golden hour (around 6:30 to 8:00 PM in Minnesota summers), when the light is softer and the heat drops. If mornings work better for your crew, we'll do that instead.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR SUMMER PHOTOS?
After booking I'll send a tips and tricks guide with summer outfit ideas. Short version: breathable fabrics like linen and cotton, earthier and softer tones that pop against summer greens, layers for cooler evening light, and skip heavy synthetics that show sweat. WHAT IF IT'S TOO HOT OR IT RAINS?
We reschedule at no charge for unsafe conditions like heavy rain, severe storms, or dangerous heat. Light overcast or a passing sprinkle is actually ideal for photos, so I never cancel for those. For more on preparing for a Minnesota summer session,

How long until we see our photos?
Your proof gallery slideshow is delivered within 10 to 14 days. From there you choose your collection at your own pace, no pressure.

Do you love being at the lake or park? Then a summer family session might be the way to go. Everything is sunny and green, so slip on your favorite sundress and sandals and enjoy that sunshine!! Keep in mind that morning or evening sessions are usually the most comfortable for families as you can beat the heat and humidity. Plus, I find the kids are healthier in the summer and there is more time to get your session in.
